Trek Bike Trailer

Every family bike ride takes us on an adventure we’ve never had before.  Whether we go to a place that is familiar to us, or somewhere new and unexplored, we enjoy every journey because of what this trailer offers.

Our little ones find themselves very comfortable in the seats.  They have no trouble taking a nap as we stroll along sidewalks and bike trails.  They are quite relaxed as the width of the trailer is wide enough that they have enough space in between themselves and also from the wheels on both sides.  The seat belts keep them restrained but do not bother them with skin irritations or bulky belt buckles.  Many trails we ride on happen to be gravel or dirt, so the mesh screen that comes with the trailer is used a lot.  It attaches by a zipper that runs along the edge of the passenger cabin.  It is easy to put on and easy to store. It has lasted a good while and is not quick to develop holes or thinning.  We are particularly happy with this component because in the few times we did not use it, we found dirt all over the kids as well as all in the seats and storage areas.  We know it keeps the dirt out and protects the riders from dust.

We always try to prepare for any unknown mishaps that could happen on the trail, so we like to bring extra pumps, tires, tire fillings, water, snacks, etc.  The storage on the trailer provides much room to be able to store those things easily.  The area behind the two passengers holds all of the items listed above and has room to spare.  One day, we were brave enough to ride to the grocery store to buy food for the family.  We had plenty of room to tote our groceries home.  We also like the extra room by the feet of the riders.  You can use it for hauling items or extra storage.  Sometimes we have bikers (older children) with us that grow tired and this is a place where they can sit and take a rest for a while.  That is, if the driver of the bike is ok pulling the extra weight!  Each additional passenger or heavy item that is placed in the trailer makes it very difficult to pull.  It is very noticeable so this is not a good long-term solution but it definitely works for a little bit.

The trailer itself is easy to attach and detach from the bike.  Once you install the metal component that snaps to the rear bike tire, you simply slide the metal trailer pipe over the bike shaft then slide the locking key into place.  It also has extra safety devices like the woven ribbon.  It wraps around the bike frame and the trailer than locks again.  This will keep the trailer close to the bike in case of an accident.  There also a metal bridge that snaps from end of the locking to the other so that it is securely in place.

Over time the canvas material that makes the trailer compartment has gotten looser around the frame.  This has caused the fabric to sometimes rub against the moving tire, which is noisy, and it is ruining the material.  This is the one downside we have found with this trailer.  Other than that we love it.  Our kids love it and it has made our bike rides so fun because we can take even our little ones with us.  We would buy it again!
