I recently had the amazing opportunity to visit the beautiful and flavorful Portland, Maine.  In my explorations at the wharf, I came across Sea Bags, a store filled with nautical treasure.  The concept of the shop is to sell used and worn boat sails that have been repurposed into totes and bags.  The store inside was bustling with happy and anxious customers.  Many looking for the one of kind bag made from authentic sail materials. Each one is different and unique. Based on the sail that the company purchased, they come in many different colors, numbers, and insignia that is so often seen on the top ends of racing boats.  They are charming and many come with patina and wear from use, which adds to its own personality.

The authentic bags run from $125 to $350 depending on its size. But many women were more interested in simple forms, which Sea Bags has other tote lines where you can purchase traditional designs like anchors, crabs, or stripes.

The beauty of these bags go beyond their aesthetic appeal, they are hardy, and can carry quite  a load when necessary.  We recently went to the beach where I was able to use my one Sea Bag tote for all our towels, sunscreen, snacks, and other miscellaneous items.  I was elated to only bring one bag with me down to the water!  And because the material was water proof, it was easy to clean when I got home.

With super fun designs and a hardy reputation, these are great totes, the perfect gift, and such a treasure!
