So my middle child started kindergarten this year. I am not going to lie, I was a bit emotional at first drop off….ok even after half the school year is over I am still slighly emotional at drop off.
As any parent I am sure they are apprehensive and nervous as to how there chld will do their very first day of school. Everything from will they thrive to will they get lost going to the bathroom. Will they make friends….will they be good friends? Will they enjoy their learning experience?
I decided to place my daughter in Legacy Traditional School’s Kindergarten Keep program. A program that turns their half day kindergarten into full day. I could not be happier with the desicion. Lets put the extra learinging and amazing teacher aside for the moment.
A huge reason I decided to place her in the Keep program was because I didnt want to be spending my whole day in the car. By the time I would have droped her off in the moring I would have had just enough time to get home and toss a load in the washer and turn around and go back to pick her up. Then go back a few hours later to pick up my oldest. Too much car time for me. So it was kind of a no brainer in that aspect.
Now lets talk about the teacher. All the teachers at the school are fantastic. In the Keep program the kids have their primary Kindergarten teacher and their Keep teacher. We LOVE the primary teacher, she is amazing and has patients I will never have. The Keep teacher is just as amazing. The first few weeks my daughter would only talk about her time in Keep. All the songs they sang and games they played, but as she was talking about it I realized they were all educational type songs and games.
In the Keep program they work on their fine motor skills (I am in great debt to the teacher for teaching my daughter how to tie her shoes….it was going to be the death of me), do great art projects (and learn about different artists), have story time and do science and social studdies work. The teacher has a amazing way of tying their social studies work in with the activites they do the rest of the day.
Everytime I drop her off she is truly excited about going to school. It fills my heart to know I made the right decision to put her in full time. I do belive that it has actually helped her to get a head start on first grade.
Ok, in order for this to be a true review I have to give you the catch. Ready for it…..the Keep program is not free….and it is not cheap….it is $250 a month. I know!!!! It hurt to write those checks, but as I was writing them I would hear my daughter in the background belting out yanky doodle and telling her little sister all about the presidents of the United States. Or how plants grow. WELL worth it!!!!
I can not recommend this any higher! We love Legacy and their Keep program.
