The Arizona High School Hockey Association has been a league that has grown incredibly over recent years. The game of hockey has brought in many new players throughout the valley area, especially that of high school students. AHSHA offers both a regular season that takes place in the fall-winter, and a lower key, off season spring league. The spring league has gone through many variations, and COVID has not helped, however the 2018 season was what I believe to be perfect.

They allowed incoming freshman to play on a team with their prospective high school with current players, going all the way up to juniors. This is a great introduction into the high school hockey culture, and while some might find it overwhelming, it gives you the full experience of what to expect. The season included around 10 weekly games with the addition of 2 practice slots and playoffs. Great overall experience for high school players of any age, with the only negatives being a possible culture shock of younger players playing with older kids. However, recent seasons have made adjustments to where players are playing against their skill level.
