Hamilton’s hockey program has always been regarded as one of the top programs in the AHSHA league, especially their D1 team after winning states in 2020. This can be credited to the skill of their players, but also the experience of their coaches. Every season the high level coaching staff puts on a pre season clinic to prepare their players for the season to come. The camp also gives a few interested players a look at what the program has to offer with no pressure of commitment. The coaching staff is very helpful to players of all skill levels, and their drills they implement are top tier. The staff comes from many different backgrounds, all of which involving some level of pro hockey. Coach Morris and Gylling were some of my personal favorites, as their style of coaching combines what players are familiar with along with introducing new playing styles. Drills including skating, stick handlings, shooting, playmaking, and many other aspects of the game
I do feel that the camp is mostly aimed towards current/returning players, so the proportion of those committed to the team vs those trying it out is very off. However, new players are treated with equal respect to that of the veterans by the coaching staff. If you are a player looking to see what the Hamilton program has to offer, I highly recommend giving this camp a try.
