STX is known for being a lacrosse brand, however in recent years they have increased their presence in the hockey world making all sorts of equipment. From protective gear, sticks, helmets and gloves, they aim to deliver quality hockey equipment all while giving a reasonable price. Most hockey pants sacrifice the mobility for adding padding, but these offer padding in essential areas without becoming too clunky. The price point is also a main factor for my purchase, as they are usually around the $80 mark, but I find them to go on sale often. The Surgeon RX2.2 pants are an amazing set of hockey pants and are my go to. My favorite thing about them has to be the mobility that they allow for.
However the extra mobility does mean there are places that lack padding. For example the entire back side of the leg below the butt pad is exposed. In between the hip pad and quad pad there is also a gap that I have found pucks like to sneak in and hit. However if you are a forward or defensemen that knows how to effectively block shots, there is little to no problem. I play defense and I have had the same pair for about 2 years and the pads still work perfectly. I highly recommend these
