I was on the look for a new brand of organic rice, and the fact that you could get this in bulk is amazing. It has a nice nutty flavor, leaving any dish more elevated. Because of its subtle flavor, it good enough to even eat on its own. For my kids (and myself if I’m being honest), it made dinner fun having purple rice rather than the plain white/brown. After cooking, it lasts a long time in the fridge before even beginning to taste stale. Apparently it is also healthier than white rice, with about 3 grams more protein. It also beats out brown right as it has a higher fiber content, perfect for digestive health.
My only problem was this it is a little on the expensive side. The 11 pound bag that I purchased usually runs around $50, which for rice is considerably more than those you’ll find in a grocery store. I should also mention that a lot of the reviews said it was painted or dyed. That was not the case for me, and it appeared to be totally natural, ingredients did not include any dyes, and it tasted great. Overall if you have the budget, I would highly recommend giving this forbidden rice a try.
